Developed by Dr. Dörte Döpfer, Tom Bennett, and Dr. Marlene Tremblay of the Food Animal Production Medicine Section, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Wisconsin-Madison, the DD Check app is part of an integrated strategy to identify, record and manage digital dermatitis in dairy herds. With a tap on the screen, you can record lesions and better understand the prevalence and various stages of DD across your herd.

The accurate identification of DD by lesion stage is critical to understanding your herd’s disease status. Use these images and descriptions of lesion stages to know what to look for and how each stage should be recorded.

Use the DD Check app to quickly record the presence of lesions in the various disease stages to help predict potential outbreaks.

The DD Infection Model can start an automated statistical prediction of disease in your herd. Once the status is known, you can take immediate action through an integrated prevention and control strategy to help decrease the incidence of DD. As DD incidence is decreased, animal wellbeing improves and productivity and profitability do too.
