Zinpro® Corporation Announces 2024 Recipient of the Dr. Mahmoud M. Abdel-Monem Fellowship in Medicinal Chemistry
Joshua Legaspi, a first-year Ph.D. student at the University of Minnesota, is the second recipient of this fellowship.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – December 5, 2024 – Zinpro Corporation, the world’s leading innovator and manufacturer of high-performance organic trace minerals and animal nutrition solutions, announced today that the Dr. Mahmoud M. Abdel-Monem Memorial Fellowship in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Minnesota has been awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year.
“We are proud to continue our support of the medicinal chemistry field in honor of Dr. Monem’s legacy,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Rob Sheffer.
“Dr. Monem’s work developing the metal amino acid complex changed the animal nutrition field and has since impacted the lives of animals and people all over the world,” said Dr. Peter Stark, who once studied under Dr. Monem and now serves as Zinpro Vice President of Global Product Development.
Joshua Legaspi, a first-year Ph.D. student pursuing a degree in medicinal chemistry at the University of Minnesota, is the second recipient of this fellowship. He recently met with Zinpro senior leaders at the company’s world headquarters in Eden Prairie for an introduction to Zinpro and to learn about Dr. Monem’s contributions to the animal nutrition field.
According to Legaspi, he is looking forward to continuing his education and making contributions to the field of medicinal chemistry. “I am interested in working in the pharmaceutical industry or possibly in a government position that would utilize my area of study,” said Legaspi.
