Dairy Life from Day One
Raised on a Wisconsin dairy farm, Eliza Ruzic has loved working with cows from the very beginning. She briefly considered becoming an ag teacher before earning a degree in dairy science and starting her career as a dairy nutritionist. But only recently did she step away from daily milking. For the first 17 years of her career, she worked full-time while helping her husband manage their dairy farm and raise their family.
Have Desk, Will Travel
Some people carry mementos from the past to put on their desks when they move. Eliza takes the whole desk. Her trusty work surface has traveled with her from the University of Wisconsin–Madison through her early career to her current role as North District Sales Manager for Zinpro®.
Soon, it will make the next move to the house she and her husband are building near their current home in central Wisconsin, as a symbol of her continual work ethic.
Communicating & Coaching
Eliza approaches her work with curiosity, creativity and genuine care for her fellow employees and customers. In coaching her team, she has a particular interest in developing adaptable communication styles.
She knows that relationships start with meeting customers where they are, whether the customer prefers focusing on straightforward facts or values a more personal connection.
Moving at the Speed of Life
Starting with her very first calf, Poppy, dairy cattle have taught Eliza patience, or as she likes to put it, “Sometimes you need to go slow to go fast.” She always takes time to ask questions and learn more about a customer issue or business situation before working together to find the best possible solution.
But even at her most patient, Eliza is always on the move. From a bakery side hustle decorating cakes and cupcakes to directing the church choir and serving as clerk for her local school board, she finds time to use her creativity and talents to nurture creativity in others and give back to her community.
Efficiency & Effectiveness
Eliza’s ability to pack so much activity into her days may trace back to her time running the Badger Dairy Club Grilled Cheese stand at the Dairy Expo. With a mantra of “It’s all about efficiency,” the team sold over 40,000 sandwiches in five days.
She has always faced challenges head-on, recognizing that although she can’t always control the situation, she can control her actions and reactions.
