Lane’s entrepreneurial journey started in Bastrop, Texas and wound through an Animal Science degree at Texas A&M, running ranches in Texas, and working in feed sales before connecting with long-time business partner Joey Couvillion. Together, Lane and Joey built multiple startup companies, developing new technologies and products that provided solutions for everything from shrimp to pets to livestock.
The Backing of Zinpro®
When Lane and Joey wanted to take their latest company to the next level, they knew they needed a partner with deep scientific expertise and industry credibility. Zinpro provided the research, technical experience, and global reach they needed, along with the integrity and entrepreneurial spirit they wanted. In 2018, their company became Zinpro Specialty Products, where Lane now serves as Business Development Manager. He’s grateful to be part of Zinpro, saying “Zinpro has my back so I can have my customer’s back.”
Solving Producers’ Problems

Lane doesn’t believe in selling products. He wants to solve problems, and that starts with truly understanding a producer’s operation and issues. As he says, “You have to understand the problem before you solve it.” When he sees an animal suffering from health challenges or failing to meet its potential, he’ll do everything in his power to deliver a solution that improves health and performance. Even if that means developing an entirely new product.
Continuous Experimentation
One reason Lane appreciates working for Zinpro is the freedom to continue experimenting and innovating to solve emerging issues facing producers. Two phrases explain his philosophy: “Never stop throwing mud at the wall” and “Keep throwing products in the wagon” Change is constant in the livestock industry, and Lane watches production environments, genetics, and disease challenges constantly evolve. Never one to sit back and take it easy, Lane is out of bed by 4:30 every morning to read his devotions, work out, and take on the day’s challenges. Being curious, agile, and knowledgeable lets him adapt quickly and develop new approaches to urgent problems, serving producers and helping to protect their operations.
Powered by Partnership
After decades of working together, Lane and Joey still talk on the phone multiple times a day, collaborating on the next solution for the next customer. But behind the scenes is the partner that Lane credits with 98% of his success – his wife of 35 years, Christy. His eyes get a little softer when he talks about the love and support she’s given him, in his words “allowing me to be who I am.”
One of a Kind. Of One Mind.
Lane’s story is unique, but he’s committed to Zinpro’s shared goal: helping producers bring out the best in their animals.
