Two Zinpro Corporation Facilities Celebrate Charter Membership of AFIA’s Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program

Certification shows companies surpass federal standards for quality and safety practices

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., Oct. 20, 2015 – Two Zinpro Corporation facilities were recently recognized by the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) as Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program Charter Members. Zinpro Corporation’s North Branch, Minnesota, and Garner, Iowa, facilities were among only 31 charter members, “who have continuously maintained one or more certification(s) through the program since its creation,” which began ten years ago last month.

“Providing safe, high-quality products to our customers and the animals in their care, has always been of vital importance to our company and its employees,” said Jon Morrison, global operations director, Zinpro Corporation. “This rigorous certification program helps us to implement our mission to improve the wellness and performance of animals and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable world.”

AFIA’s Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program is open to livestock feed and pet food manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, integrated producers, meat processors, feed purchasers, livestock producers, renderers and others who want to validate a commitment to food safety through pro-active leadership. According to AFIA, the certification “signifies that qualifying companies have embraced the feed industry’s role in creating feed-based safety programs; they are doing their part to reduce food safety risks; they are participating in an approved risk-management program; and they are aggressively practicing risk reduction.”

Zinpro Corporation’s core values are people, integrity, innovation, quality, customer satisfaction and excellence, and this program helps to keep those values in focus, said Fred Molenaar, quality assurance manager, Zinpro Corporation. “The Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program has been a very helpful way to train our employees on how to ensure the most beneficial safety and quality procedures are being followed during manufacturing, handling and shipping of Zinpro Performance Minerals,” he noted. “We applaud the people at our facilities who do the work to meet the high standards of the program.”

AFIA, based in Arlington, Va., is the world’s largest organization devoted exclusively to representing the business, legislative and regulatory interests of the U.S. animal feed industry and its suppliers. “Zinpro Corporation and its charter member facilities should be commended for showing leadership in this important program,” said Joel G. Newman, AFIA president and chief executive officer. “The employees at Zinpro have gone the extra mile to demonstrate a strong commitment to food safety. Participation in the Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program is an ideal way to provide customers and consumers with an increased confidence in the products companies such as Zinpro provide.”
