Dr. Betsy Greene Named 2013 Equine Science Award Winner

Eden Prairie, Minn. (Sept. 11,
2013) – Dr. Betsy Greene, Professor and
Extension Equine Specialist at the University of Vermont, was recently honored with
the 2013 Equine Science Award during the Joint Annual Science Meetings held in
Indianapolis, Ind.
Dr.
Greene is the fourth recipient of this award, which is sponsored by Zinpro
Corporation and
presented in conjunction with the Equine Science Society and the American Society of Animal Science
(ASAS). Established in 2008, the Equine Science Award is designed to help recognize
outstanding achievements in the areas of extension, research, teaching or
agribusiness in the equine industry.

ago.”
Dr.
Greene earned a doctorate degree from Kansas State University in Manhattan,
Kan. She received a master’s degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson,
Ariz. Her bachelor’s degree was received from Morehead State University in
Morehead, Ky.
Throughout
her career, Dr. Greene has successfully integrated teaching and extension
programs by involving undergraduate students as researchers, co-authors, as
well as engaging them with legislative issues involving the equine
industry.
