Peer-reviewed research is a scientifically sound investigation, in controlled conditions, of cause and effect, typically including several rounds of review by unbiased third-party experts. A field trial, on the other hand, is simply a big-picture look that involves many uncontrolled factors and assumptions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are three main requirements for a study to qualify as peer-reviewed research: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. It must have a scientifically sound experimental design that minimizes factors that confound the results. This would include assigning an adequate number of animals\/birds per treatment, having a suitable control group, using valid methods to analyze samples, and making sure that factors such as environmental conditions do not favor one treatment group over another.

  2. The data must be analyzed with the appropriate statistical model. If the data aren\u2019t analyzed with the proper statistical model, researchers cannot draw confident conclusions from their work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
