Odland received the Zinpro\/Schugel scholarship in recognition of her outstanding academic performance, student leadership and participation in academic, work and community initiatives to benefit animal wellness and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"131\" height=\"175\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zinpro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/DrWard-TatumOdland.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55498\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zinpro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/DrWard-TatumOdland.jpg 131w, https:\/\/www.zinpro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/DrWard-TatumOdland-9x12.jpg 9w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 131px) 100vw, 131px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Dr. Terry Ward and Tatum Odland<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The main challenge Odland stated that she would most like to help solve during her veterinary medicine career would be to \u201celiminate preventable zoonotic diseases in both the United States and abroad.\u201d Odland added, \u201cI love being able to help people through animals, and I love to see the human-animal-bond strengthened when people know how to care for their animals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe share Tatum\u2019s commitment to helping people improve the health and wellbeing of animals,\u201d said Terry Ward, Ph.D., global director, Research and Nutritional Services (RNS), Zinpro Corporation. \u201cTatum has shown the same commitment to animal health and wellness demonstrated by Dr. Schugel, for which this scholarship was named. It\u2019s our honor to award this scholarship to a student like Tatum, who clearly excels in her academic pursuits, activities and work experiences that help people care for their animals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Odland earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in animal science from the University of Minnesota \u2013 Twin Cities in 2016. She has worked at the Minnesota State Fair, Miracle of Birth Center, as a rotation student, and as a veterinary student extern, intern and lab assistant for a variety of university, government and animal-care related organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is wonderful to be recognized for the time and effort I have put into both my classes and extra-curriculars during vet school,\u201d stated Odland. \u201cThank you so much for supporting future veterinarians! Your gift will help me dramatically during my clinical year of veterinary school.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zinpro Corporation established the&nbsp;Zinpro\/Schugel Scholarship&nbsp;in 2011 to recognize outstanding academic accomplishments by a third-year veterinary student studying food-animal medicine at the University of Minnesota,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/vetmed.umn.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">College of Veterinary Medicine<\/a>.
