Experts to meet in Germany to focus on improved ruminant mobility, health and welfare

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., July 6, 2017 -- Zinpro Corporation announces its platinum sponsorship of the 19th International Symposium and 11th International Conference on Lameness in Ruminants to be held Sept. 6-9 in Munich, Germany. In addition to the platinum sponsorship, Zinpro will provide experts to conduct workshops and be keynote speakers during the event.

The 2017 event is organized in two parts: a field-day on Sept. 6, which features hands-on workshops, followed by a three-day conference from Sept. 7-9, which includes keynote speakers, poster sessions and open discussions. The field-day workshops will address a variety of on-farm challenges related to lameness, including:

  • Digital dermatitis – virtual farm visit, stages of prevention & control at farm level (hosted by Dr. Dörte Döpfer, associate professor of food animal production medicine, University of Wisconsin-Madison)
  • Footbath design and management (hosted by Dr. Mike Socha, associate director, Research & Nutritional Services, Zinpro Corporation, and Dr. Christoph Mülling, professor of veterinary anatomy, University of Leipzig, Germany)
  • Sow claw lesion identification and trimming (hosted by Jan van der Meer, key account manager – The Netherlands, Zinpro Corporation). 

This year’s symposium theme is Lameness in Ruminants: Mobility, Health and Animal Welfare. Event participants will include researchers, veterinary surgeons, hoof trimmers, farmers, industry representatives and others with an interest in better managing ruminant lameness.
