Certifications show the facility surpasses federal feed safety and quality standards
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., Feb. 16, 2016 – Zinpro Corporation announces that its Shell Rock, Iowa, facility recently earned new feed quality and safety certifications. The certifications include those for Safe Feed/Safe Food FSC 36, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Restricted Use Protein Products (RUPP).
“The facility’s quick implementation of very rigorous protocols to earn these three certificates shows the value that Zinpro puts on producing high-quality animal feed ingredients for our customers,” says Jon Morrison, global operations director, Zinpro Corporation. “The certificates are important for demonstrating that we surpass current federal quality and safety standards for both animals and the consumers of animal products.”
In October, Zinpro announced that its two other U.S. facilities had been recognized by the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) as Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program charter members. Zinpro Corporation’s North Branch, Minnesota, and Garner, Iowa, facilities were among only 31 charter members “who have continuously maintained one or more certification(s) through the program since its creation,” which began 10 years ago in September.
“All three certification programs (Safe Feed/Safe Food, HACCP and RUPP) are voluntary and independently certified by Validus,” says Fred Molenaar, quality assurance manager, Zinpro Corporation. “Due to the Shell Rock facility's ‘excellent rating’ in assuring product quality and safety, the certificates are valid for two years, with only a remote audit needed in the off year. We credit the outstanding efforts of employees at Shell Rock for ensuring that we were able to meet the high standards of these programs in such a short time.”
