EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., (November 30, 2011) – Zinpro Corporation has established a new veterinary scholarship with the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. The Zinpro/Schugel Scholarship will be given annually to honor a third-year veterinary student studying food animal medicine.
“We are pleased to sponsor this scholarship for the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine,” says Dr. Terry L. Ward, Director, Research and Nutritional Services, Zinpro Corporation. “This award honors Dr. LaVerne Schugel, a long-term colleague of ours, for his dedication to food animal science and the veterinary profession.”
This scholarship fund was established by Zinpro Corporation upon the recent retirement of Dr. LaVerne Schugel. Dr. Schugel is a 1957 graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine.
“I want to thank Zinpro Corporation for endowing and naming this scholarship in my honor,” says Dr. Schugel. “It is important to me to help further the education of veterinary students, especially in the area of food animal medicine.”
The 2011 Zinpro/Schugel Scholarship recipient is Colby Jones of Lake George, New York. Jones plans to practice food animal medicine and concentrate on dairy medicine. She also eventually plans to work in the area of public health.
